Camp Canary 2026 Sessions:
June 23- June 27 Game Designers During this week at Camp Canary, your camper will put on their game face! Artists will explore and design mazes on paper and then create our own jumbo labyrinth. We’ll be inspired by classic games like Candy Land & Sorry as we conceptualize, design, and build our own unique and colorful board games and more! ages 5-10, South Orange
June 30- July 3 Painters Workshop How do colors mix? Can we use the motion in our bodies to create interesting marks? How can we combine mixed media to create layers in our paintings? During this camp week, we'll work on our own large canvas using layered techniques over days and explore these ideas through a dynamic and colorful curriculum that is sure to engage any young artist! ages 4-9, South Orange & Montclair
July 7-11 Makers Market Calling all artisans! This week, campers will become creative entrepreneurs, meeting with local makers to learn how they go about crafting, marketing and selling their creations. Using different mediums, we will create various handmade items and then set up our very own “Makers Market” on Friday for the campers to “shop.” ages 5-10 South Orange & Montclair
July 14- 18 Street Art Week During this week of camp we’ll go large, public, and avant garde as we explore street art. We’ll make collaborative chalk paint murals on the sidewalk, wheat paste images on plywood, explore stenciling and tagging with (non toxic!) chalk spray paint , make Invader style mosaics, and Kobra style self portraits. We’ll look at work by Olek, JR, Banksy, Invader, Kobra, and Julian Beever to inspire our (legal) street art. ages 4-9, South Orange & Montclair
July 21- 25 Miniature Makers Mini food! Mini lamps! Mini aliens! Come join our miniverse for a week of big fun through tiny art. In this camp we’ll tap into your child’s love of miniatures as we make projects like dream room dioramas, tiny plates of food, little alien armies, and mini masterpiece paintings. ages 5-10 South Orange & Montclair
July 28- Aug 1 Sweet Treats Are confectioners artists? Can artists be chefs? Of course! In this week of Sweet Treats, campers will create their own pastry chef personas and make sweet treat themed artworks using a variety of art materials and techniques. Plenty of child- led, open ended play and exploration in this delicious and delightful week - and your kiddos will eat it up! ages 4-9, South Orange & Montclair
August 4- 8 Myths & Magical Beings Camp this week will be inspired by Myths and Folklore from around the world . Storytelling will guide us as our artists make shadow puppet stories inspired by Indonesian puppetry, mythological creature assemblage inspired by Greek mythology, maps, and potions and more. Sure to be an enchanting week! ages 4-9, South Orange & Montclair
August 11-15 Creature Creators This week is inspired by your child’s love for cutesy and curious animals, Squishamillows, and Pokemon.. We’ll create our own trading cards and build toy figures from model magic. Then we’ll take a dive into creature design as we sketch our ideas and then explore creating squishable creatures with soft sculpture and older kids will discover the possibilities of needle felting. ages 5-10 South Orange & Montclair
August 18- 22 Making with Nature Summer and nature go hand in hand! During our week together, nature artists will explore textures, colors, and shapes from nature while investigating how we can use nature to create. We'll explore light with sun prints and earth with clay and nature installations. We'll dye t-shirts with indigo, tinker with wood and nails, and make bath bombs with botanical and essential oils. One of our fave camp weeks! ages 4-9, South Orange & Montclair
August 25- 29 Dreamhouse Design During this week artists will become model dream home designers! Artists will design and assemble their very own dream house. We’ll stretch our imaginations to design an interior blueprint and plan out wall colors and furniture layout. We’ll paint walls and apply wallpaper, build our own mini furniture, slides, pools, and jungle gyms from an assortment of interesting materials. We'll create mini art work, rugs and of course peg dolls to play with in their new digs. Artists will leave camp with a custom dream house to take home! ages 5-10, Montclair
